What is it
The Capture the Castle Drawing Kit consists of 6 self contained kits with everything you need to produce freehand sketches, featuring a castle, drawbridge, cannon, knight, princess and coat of arms. Children will be able to trace the first picture which shows an easy outline, then move the tracing paper to the next level and then onto the last picture to include all the detail. Finally, they will be able to move on to the last stage of being able to draw freehand.
This Drawing Kit makes it easy for children to understand with the instructions and materials that they are provided with. You can also create scenes and storyboards that can be coloured in by turning the tracing paper over and rubbing the pencil lines to transfer the image onto paper (paper and crayons not included in the sets).
This Drawing kit can also be extended by purchasing other sets from the Skinny Sketcher range : London, Architecture, Dinosaurs, Butterflies and Blossoms and The Fast & The Curious.
The pack includes:
– 6 x drawing instructions
– 6 x tracing paper
– Mechanical pencil

What our experts think
The Capture the Castle Drawing Kit really inspired children’s creativity – one girl (aged 7) drew a moat around her castle and then added a boat to it. Children followed the steps quite easily and were really happy with their finished piece. Some also tried to draw the pictures freehand, and it was great to see how the Skinny Sketcher encouraged children’s confidence in drawing in this way.
It was lovely that children could do whichever steps they wanted to – more confident children started with the more difficult steps, while less confident children only completed the simpler steps. They also got really creative, adding their own drawings and using other Skinny Sketcher sets to make new scenes.
It would be even better if...
It can be difficult to keep the outlines and the tracing paper together – we found that using a paperclip worked quite well. There aren’t any colouring pencils included but these would be really useful to have.
