What is it
Paint by numbers Pets is just one of the themes within the range of Paint by Numbers from Primo. The other themes consist of dance, sea, beach, cowboy and ranger. Each kit contains a sturdy plastic base, eight colours of 25 mm paint blocks, one paint brush and 6 different A5 picture sheets to be painted. The paint colours are numbered as are the areas on the picture sheets so children can easily match them to create fantastic designs.

What our experts think
Painting by numbers is a nice, easy way for children to paint a picture, which can inspire them to then create artwork from scratch by themselves. The children also drew their own paint by numbers outlines, and swapped with each other.
Holding the paintbrush correctly, and painting in the smaller areas, helps younger children develop the tripod grip needed for holding a pencil to write as well as fine motor control.
This is a type of puzzle too, requiring children to match up the numbers and colours, helping to develop logical thinking.
