What our experts think
Children liked smiling for the camera and taking lots of ‘photos’! Toys like My First Camera are good props for use in role and pretend play, where children can copy what they have seen adults do in order to learn. It is also a good toy for encouraging curiosity and interaction, as children experimented with looking through the lense and pressing the button to see what happened.
EYFS goals supported
Communication & Language – “Uses sounds in play.”; “Copies familiar expressions.”
Personal, Social & Emotional – “Gradually able to engage in pretend play with toys.”
Physical development – “Reaches out for, touches and begins to hold objects.”
It would be even better if...
The camera was a bit too heavy for younger children. More buttons and interactive elements would make the camera more interesting for children to play with for longer.
