What is it
Molkky consists of twelve wooden pins, numbered one to twelve, which are arranged in a close group. The first player hurls the throwing pin at these numbers with the aim of reaching a score of 50 first. Each time the pins are knocked down, they are stood up again for the next player BUT in the position they fell in. Are we all following so far? As the pins get further and further away from each other, a bit of tactical playing will be in order as you have to get a score of 50 exactly or be returned to 25 points. You can’t just lob the throwing pin as hard as you can and hope for the best either – if you knock down more than one pin, you get a score equal to the total pins you fell; not the sum of the numbers on the top!
The Tactic Molkky set is eco-friendly and sturdy, designed to withstand all weathers (perfect for when it rains throughout the Summer here in Britain).

What our experts think
Molkky is a great game for all ages – perfect for a family gathering as young and old can play alongside each other! The game was easy to set up and the instructions were clear; gameplay was simple and fun – our testers were reluctant to stop playing and it was a game that they returned to. We like that it encourages active play (it can be played inside or out, as long as there is a flat surface) – as the children played the game more, they also enjoyed developing their own adapted versions of it, which utilises their creativity.
Our younger testers enjoyed knocking over the skittles, which promotes hand-eye coordination and aim, and the older ones enjoyed working out their totals and what they were required to knock down to reach their target – building on numeracy and counting skills in a fun and active way. The game encouraged friendly competitiveness and turn taking, which is important for personal, social and emotional development. Learning about winning and losing teaches children about resilience and how to manage emotions, and turn taking encourages communication and social skills, essential for collaborative play and team activities.
