What is it
Children build the puzzle, carefully observing the illustration and discovering the magical world of the sea. Like a true scientist they can make a note of their individual discoveries in a notebook. In addition, with the magic torch, they can also observe what cannot be seen with the naked eye.

What our experts think
The puzzle appealed to our testers due to its vibrant colours and the underwater creatures, and developed their knowledge and understanding of the sea. Toys like this provide the opportunity to grow children’s vocabulary and interest in these topics for use in learning and discussion.
Problem solving skills were developed as the children tried to work out the best way to tackle the puzzle; it was interesting to see the strategies they came up with. Observational skills and perseverance are required as the puzzle is quite challenging, and visuo-spatial skills are required to assemble the pieces together correctly. The children particularly liked finding the hidden features with the torch and ticking them off on the notes pages, this made them feel like mini scientists! We thought that these extra features were a great addition.
It would be even better if...
We felt the puzzle would have benefited from a larger pull out picture to work from.
