What our experts think
This food trolley proved an instant hit with our testers; they especially liked the ice-creams! It is a great toy for role-playing and there was a lot of talking as the children verbalised what they were doing. We observed children transforming into ice-cream sellers; they delighted in walking around the room and offering their wares to others – they naturally started to think about money and began to incorporate basic maths skills in their play.
This is why imaginative role play is so great – it develops a child’s understanding of the world around them by allowing them to play out and make sense of real world scenarios. It also promotes creativity and benefits children’s personal, social and emotional development, which helps them with communication and forming relationships. There is a good range of accessories with the trolley which really allow children to extend their play. However, the amount of parts could lead to them being easily lost!
