What is it

The Ben and Betty Level 1 Pack contains four activity books and an interactive CD-ROM to help children learn their numbers and reasoning skills. The set is also great for reinforcing skills such as letter formation, phonic sounds and hand control. This pack aims to encourage learning through play and there is plenty of activities to keep kids happy and engaged throughout.

What our team of testers said

"This is a great complement to starting school. It’s great that children can go at their own pace and will give parents confidence too." - Observer of 4 and 5 year-olds

"Look, there is a rabbit." - Boy aged 3

Skills Developed

  • Promotes letter and number recognition
  • Encourages a love of learning through play
  • Helps develop confidence as children start formal education

What our experts think

Children enjoyed exploring the books and following the instructions of Ben and Betty, and they were easy to follow.  Our testers particular enjoyed the addition of the CDRom – this added another element to the activity and held the children’s interest for longer periods of time.  The children developed a range of skills whilst engaging with the product, including pencil control, and letter and number recognition.

We did find that the younger age ranges needed more adult support as they need to be able to use a computer, but the older ones could access the the activities on their own. Our testers found that the books needed to be completed on a 1:1 basis, but it was good that the CDRom could be worked on collaboratively.
