What is it
Children will develop left and right-brain skills with Artie 3000™, the coding/drawing robot.
Primary learners will develop:
Left-brain skills such as basic programming, geometry and maths as they control Artie
Right-brain skills such as creativity, imagination and expression as they develop patterns and drawing
With four modes of play: pre-programmed shapes, games, art for colouring and freeform coding, children will love telling Artie what to do!
The easy-to-use drag and drop programming can be used on a Mac, PC or tablet
Artie 3000 includes:
QuickStart & FAQs instruction cards
Three project cards
Built-in drag and drop visual programming interface
Four thin, washable, felt-tip, coloured pens (pink, blue, purple, green)
Coding meets creativity in Artie 3000™, a new coding robot for kids from Educational Insights. Artie 3000™ is a drawing robot that helps kids learn to code. They can imagine simple or complex drawings and designs, and translate them into “drag and drop” code on any device.
What our team of testers said
"Oh look, it's actually copied what I told it to do, my mum would like this robot." - Boy aged 9
"Let's go right for a bit, then turn left, then go straight for a bit and then right again. Let's repeat this." - Boy aged 5
- Develops cognitive skills
- Improves hand-eye coordination
- Great for encouraging turn taking
What our experts think
‘Artie’ the robot uses creativity to engage children in concepts of coding and programming, as they work out how to make different shapes and patterns. The robot was hugely popular and our testers loved that they could tell it what to do, using trial and error to work out which function did what.
It gave the children a sense of achievement to watch what they had created through coding. Some children watched Artie write its name, which also developed their phonic knowledge by sounding out the letters. One great function allowed the children to create their own shapes by using their fingers to draw the shapes on the grid. We did find that the batteries got used up very quickly so it would be good to have some spare ones on hand!
