Retailer Of The Month: January 2015

Congratulations to Karen Dorn, owner of The Forgotten Toy Shop, Nottingham, for being awarded Retailer of the Month for January.

The Forgotten Toy Shop was set up, in 2012 and is run by Karen Dorn, who has a passion to reignite the joy of child’s play, to help bring the magic of childhood back and make it simple again. Karen has built up this business from scratch mainly on her own, with a little help from family and friends.

The Forgotten Toy Shop is an independent online store based in Nottingham, bringing the best quality traditional toys and games for the young (and young at heart!). You can also visit Karen at her regular market stall on a Tuesday in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. And throughout the year attending seasonal fairs and markets across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, details can be found on the website.

“I love to see the peoples face when they see my stall, you can actually see them returning to their childhood, remembering the toys that they had forgotten. Hearing the stories of how they played as children, it’s such a joy and brightens up my day, especially on these cold wet days. People often say that they really enjoy coming to my stall, it brings back the magic of childhood memories and takes them away from the hectic, fast paced life we find ourselves in today, even if just for a moment.”

In July 2014 Karen was given the opportunity to start stocking a small range of products at the independent children’s clothes boutique, isobel&henry, in West Bridgford, Nottingham. This has worked really well for both Karen and the owner of isobel&henry and is looking forward to continuing with a view to expanding the range in 2015.

Karen sources the products herself selecting only the best quality toys & games from design-led companies that will inspire you and the children in your life to relax into a space where the magic of childhood can flourish, where kids can be kids, where people can interact, unleashing their imaginations and where you can revel in the pleasure of simply spending time together.

Karen is a firm believer to always provide excellent and personal customer service, and help to meet the customers requirements by ensuring they are delighted with their purchases.
