How to Play

A classic playground game that is easy to learn but difficult to master. Children draw a series of squares on the ground in a bricklayer formation, numbering the squares 1 through to 8, 9, or 10.

Children then find a stone or piece of slate and throw it. On their first turn they need to throw it into the square with the number one in, then they jump over the square with the stone in, and hop, jump alternately to the end of the grid, then turn around and hop and jump to the beginning, picking up the stone on their way past. If this is done successfully, the child gets another turn, this time throwing the stone to land in square number 2. For more instructions on how to play this game, click here.
