What is it
We Discover Wildlife: Forest Quest is a board game app. It cleverly combines the traditional elements of a board game with the modern technology of an app.
The aim of the game is to collect all 7 animal photographs and reach the end; players can play against the computer or there is a multiplayer option (up to 4 players). You roll the dice and move around the board (just like in a real board game.) There are multiple choice Forest themed questions to answer (there are over 350 in total) as you travel around the board; if you answer correctly you will be awarded an item for your backpack.
Whilst playing you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of the forest.
There are 3 different difficulty levels so that the questions can be pitched at the correct level for the player/s. You can have the questions and answers read to you by clicking on the musical note icon; the answers have photographs which are very helpful if you are not an expert on all that lives in a forest!

What our experts think
We Discover Wildlife: Forest Quest is a great app which combines the elements of a traditional board game with an app. Our testers really enjoyed playing it and were reluctant to stop! The whole concept was very good and the game played well; it was easy for children to use and the game play was intuitive.
The graphics were engaging and colourful and held the interest of the children who tested the app. We really liked the addition of photographs or the multiple choice questions – the photographs helped children who were unsure of some of the technical words in the questions/answers.
The way in which you could change the level of difficulty of the questions and the fact that this could be different for each player is a great feature. Some of our testers found it amusing to set the easy questions for themselves and the hard ones of the computer (if you haven’t got a friend to play with you can play against the computer instead.) The questions were challenging and children and adults all learnt something new whilst playing!
It is lovely to find an app which can be played by more than one player – this not only promotes turn taking but also allows for time to be spent with friends and family.
It would be even better if...
Some of our players were unaware of the fact that the questions and answers could be read to you; the musical note icon needs to be more prominent. We also felt that the voice needed to be more engaging to children.
