What is it
Tiggly Tales can be used with or without Tiggly Words (sold separately).
Tiggly Tales is an app that aims to teach children about their vowel sounds and encourages storytelling. It can be played with or without the word toys (a bag of vowels that can be placed on the screen.)
Children are given a consonant, vowel, consonant (CVC) word with the vowel missing. They have to add the vowel and bring the characters to life – there are lots of possibilities! Make a bug in a bog and catch it with a big bag! If the word has a meaning, it comes to life on the screen. There are lots of silly interactions to engage the children.
Once the children have created a bank of words they can make a video of it; children can add their own voices.

What our experts think
Another beautifully animated app from Tiggly; Tiggly Tales allows children to explore CVC words in a fun and engaging way. Children enjoyed using the magnets to swap the consonants and then choosing a vowel sound for the middle. The element of humour was there throughout with fun animations for each of the words.
Our little testers enjoyed using the word toys to add the vowels (the app can be played without these), this is a great addition for kinaesthetic learners.
Once the children had found the drop down menu they really liked the videoing element. It was a good way to encourage the children to use their words to tell a story (there were lots of giggles when the children were using this part of the app!)
It would be even better if...
The star icon on the side, that reveals the other features, isn’t very obvious and could easily be overlooked; the videoing element of the app was very good, but was missed by some of our testers.
Instructions in the parent area would have been a good addition.
