What is it
Pom-Pom The Magician teaches children their alphabet through a magical world. Children can watch the Magician turning the alphabet into exciting objects and animals.
He changes the letter B into a bunch of balloons and then flies up with them; he changes L into a hungary Lion by mistake and then runs away from it as fast as he can; and he changes the letter P into Penguins who dance along to to the sound of the piano!
The app contains 26 video stories that help children to recognise the 26 letters along with 52 corresponding words. There are also spelling pages where children can drag letters to spell out words.

What our experts think
Magical Alphabet is a beautifully animated app that contains 26 short videos; they are engaging, colourful and humorous. Our little testers loved the videos and were encouraged to repeat the letter names, sounds and words which is brilliant for developing their early Literacy skills.
The three sections of the app are good for teaching children the basics of the alphabet and are an ideal introduction to reading and spelling. We liked the way in which you could switch between upper and lower case. The spelling area is a good precursor to learning to write and spell as it clearly shows children how the letters are used to build the words.
It would be even better if...
We liked the way in which you can change to phonics for the spelling section (in the settings) but it didn’t change the letters to lower case.
