What is it
Labo Paper Plate brings the creative art of making a paper plate into something new to the world of apps. The app teaches children how to make simple and fun crafts from paper plates. There are 12 step-by-step interactive lessons, and 11 fun games & activities.
There are 12 ‘lessons’ in total – children can chose to create a dog, hen, duck, musical instrument, cars, elephant, frog, monster, penguin or pig. Once they have ctreated the plate on screen they can then colour it in (following the example on screen or creating their own designs). And the fun doesn’t end there; once the creation is complete the paper plate comes to life and there is a range of games and activities to complete with it.
There is a gallery to save the completed works of art to; children can go back to this at a later date and play with their Labo Paper Plate creations.

What our experts think
Labo Paper Plate is a brilliantly creative app which delighted our testers and appealed to a wide range of ages. We loved the way in which the children cut out the relevant parts on screen and then assembled them; once assembled they could use their creativity to paint their creation. It was during this colouring in part that the children could really express their personal style and let their imagination run wild (a purple chicken or a rainbow dog…anything goes!) But by far our favourite part of this wonderful app was the way in which children could then play with their paper plate creation. There was a series of animations and games that used the children’s own paper plate animal or object; children loved seeing them come to life and the animations caused lots of giggles!
Another thing we really liked about this app was that it gave parents, and older children, ideas of how to create actual paper plate crafts. Some of our older testers took it upon themselves to create their very own paper plate dog!
It would be even better if...
Some of the buttons were hard for younger players to spot (in particular the start and exit ones.)
