What is it

Duckie Deck Baby Tunes is very simple to use. When Children open up the app, they see 3 circles to choose from: one circle has cars, airplanes, and other transportation vehicles; one has various animals; and one with different musical instruments. The app is designed to help toddlers as young as 12 months, to get to know different sounds in their environment.

There is no talking in the app. This gives parents the perfect opportunity to interact with their children, telling them the name of the objects, and the functions of the objects.

The children can select each note or each object to hear both a keyboard note and the object’s sound whether that’s a cow or a trumpet! The more they play the more objects appear – after 3 plays the object flies away and another appear by parachute. Confidence in understanding the sounds they hear boosts their confidence in other areas.

The interface is simple, so that a child as young as 12 months can play independently or with your help. Colourful and dynamic graphics are sure to capture your toddler’s attention, and the sounds are presented in a gentle manner that will let them become familiar comfortably.

What our experts think

Such a playful way for children to learn about sounds and music. This was a great app for even our youngest little testers to explore alongside a parent. They particularly delighted in seeing the new objects parachuting in. We were delighted to see this app didn’t just focus on a single set of sounds – including animals, vehicles and musical instruments providing great breath and lots of starting points for discussion with supporting parents.

It would be even better if...

There is a pause after each note/object is played before another can be played which avoids overlapping sounds but leads to some frustration – it would be good to see another solution here.
