What is it
With the Chore Pad HD, parents can set up the different cards for individual children in a family (or a class!) Each card can then be personalised with the child’s chores/ homework children have to do and on which days it needs to be completed. You can then tick off when the tasks have been completed; each task earns a number of stars (set by the adult). Children earn stars as chores are completed, and use those stars to redeem rewards that you’ve created.
As well as personalising the tasks and rewards, you can also personalise the chart with animations and sounds. Children can make their chart their own with a wide range of themes and custom icons.
Parents, and children, can see at a glance (on the start screen) progress for the week.

What our experts think
Chore Pad is a great app for letting children take responsibility and ownership of their chores (including homework).
Our testers were all very keen on the idea of recording their chores and earning stars towards their rewards. The app was very visual and, once the initial card had been set up by the adult, the children enjoyed keeping track of their progress towards the rewards.
The children liked the fact that they could personalise their cards with colours and photos; and they could ‘help’ suggest chores to add and rewards to achieve.
One of our 6 year old testers has Global Development Delay and has episodes of very bad behaviour. A real issue is brushing her teeth…so brushing them without a fuss has gone onto Chore Pad as one of her daily chores. This resulted in a real difference with her willingness to brush her teeth as she could earn a star!
The chore charts are best set up by parents, this can be with the children’s input, and then children can personalise them and use them to keep track of what they need to do. It is a great tool for making children aware of what they need to do and for visually representing their progress.
It would be even better if...
Some of our parents found the setting up of the chore cards a little tricky – clear instructions would have improved the app.
