Playing outside is great for children in so many ways. First, it is normally active and helps children keep fit and prevents obesity. Children who play actively tend to sleep and eat better, so parents win too! It’s also a great place to meet and play with other children and so is great for social development. The natural world has so many stimulating features that children can use their imagination and enjoy playing freely, without rules or limitations. In terms of the balanced play diet, playing actively outdoors is definitely the fruit and vegetables of the diet: very difficult to have too much of!
