Puzzles and Games

Puzzles and Games for all ages give children a wide range of skills.  These range from manipulation of small playing or jigsaw pieces to deduction, strategic planning and logical thinking. Every aspect of development can be found in games and puzzles.  Physical health and mental well-being are promoted when playing garden games, whereas colour, shape, pattern recognition are developed more with puzzles and games.  Knowledge is increased through some games and puzzles and social skills are enhanced through sharing and turn-taking.  Confidence in completing a puzzle improves self-esteem and personal challenges.

Board games are often forgotten about, yet they make such a great way to spend some quality time together as a family and encourage children away from the screens. Playing board games give children the opportunity to learn about competitive play in a social and friendly way. Learning how to deal with losing is a key skill that can be developed by playing board games, along with turn taking, how to follow instructions, teamwork and communication, which are all vital for healthy social development.
